Unexpected, will devour the super steamy and fast paced first book, The Marriage Contract in the O’

Malley series by NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author Katee Robert.

Series: The O’Malley Series #1

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: Paperback- December 22, 2015 Digital- June 2, 2015

Publisher: Grand Central Publishing- Forever

Synopsis:

Teague O’Malley hates pretty much everything associated with his family’s name. And when his father

orders him to marry Callista Sheridan to create a “business” alliance, Teague’s ready to tell his dad exactly

where he can stuff his millions. But then Teague actually meets his new fiancée, sees the bruises on her

neck and the fight still left in her big blue eyes, and he decides he will do everything in his power to

protect her.

Everyone knows the O’Malleys have a dangerous reputation. But Callie wasn’t aware of just what that

meant until she saw Teague, the embodiment of lethal grace and coiled power. His slightest touch sizzles

through her. The closer they get, though, the more trouble they’re in. Because Callie’s keeping a dark

secret—and what Teague doesn’t know could get him killed.

Review:

It’s like a historical romance had a love-child with a contemporary one. Old World thinking had been harnessed in the minds of new world gangsters, and how intriguing I found this to be. I usually don’t pit family members against each other, but I wanted Teague to do some bodily harm to his DNA sharers. They were cruel and shameless, and definitely in need of a spanking. Somebody grab a switch!

Teague’s calm, cool demeanor amidst the turmoil aka his life was an admiring trait for his character. He knew what he had to do – marry Callie despite the fact that he knew nothing about her – but instead of whining about his forced nuptials, he tried to make the best of it. He did what he could to make the betrothal as pleasant as possible, all the while hoping somehow it turned out great -which, of course, it did.

Callie is feisty and strong. She put on her big girl panties, held her head high, and moved forward. She wanted to push her family into the legal realm of things, and she was willing to do what she could to make it happen. Her ability to loosen up, despite her choice of a husband being taken out of her hands, made her that much more likeable – especially considering the way her first engagement ended.

I almost had to take notes to keep up with the first 3 chapters, but hey, don’t process that as being a bad thing. The book started out with some action, and as the plot thickened, the bullets continued to fly.

This story is a fresh take on mob life, and I was actually torn about what I hoped for the ending. What a tricky thing to do. Kudos to the author!

Robert has definitely crafted a busy, attention-grabbing, multiple-emotion triggering, fast-paced romance – the start of an exciting series that’s sure to garner faithful followers.

By the way, I’m so looking forward to the next one. I like Carrigan and James. Nice set-up!

Rating system: Cups of coffee – the less the better

0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.

My rating: 1/2 cup of coffee
