When her mother left to follow her heart, she left a trail of scandal. Her sense of romance and desire for passion are not the only things Delia inherited from her mother, she also has her sparkling blue eyes, and those are just a couple of the things Alec is drawn to. It just so happens, however, that his father is the man Delia’s mom left behind when she ran off with the man who’d captured her heart, Delia being one of the offspring of their love.

When Delia and her sister Lily befriend Alec’s sisters, they wind up being invited to their house party. When Alec finds out his brother, Robyn, is interested in Delia, he makes it his mission to keep them apart. He doesn’t want to bring life to the scandal that happened all those years ago, especially since it resulted in his family’s ruin. He worked hard to regain the family’s fortune and reputation among the ton, and he’d be damned before he lets a connection between Robyn and Delia ruin all he’s accomplished. The two embark on a chess-like game of wits, and they both find themselves falling victim to each other’s charms.

Bradley crafted a fun, sexually-intense romance with entertaining banter. The characters are well-defined and relatable. I enjoyed the interaction between the two, and from the beginning I found it difficult to put the book down. Alec was a naughty thing, but that’s what makes the story fun. A rake or a rogue – doesn’t really matter – he’s charming and straight up alpha male. But he also had a gentle side that makes he oh so loveable. Delia held her own, and her quick wit and sharp tongue kept Alec on his toes. The climax was quick, and it completely did its job. Alec knew what he wanted and he went after it.

Charge the kindle, draw the shades, and settle in. This is a must-read!

Rating system: Cups of coffee – the less the better

0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.
