My First Book Signing Convention

I’ve read many romance novels during my time, and along the way, fallen in love with some smokin’ hot (according to the book covers and my very imaginative brain) book boyfriends. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried. I’ve oohed, I’ve ahhed. I’ve read, I’ve reread. I’ve reviewed, I’ve recommended. What have I not done when it comes to romance novels?
Gone to a book signing!

I know, I know. Shocked me, too, when I first realized it.

But no worries, I’m going to remedy that right now. We’re going to a book signing. Yes, we. You and me. Right here, right now. From the confines of our own homes (or wherever you are when reading this), we’re about to take a virtual trip to Gwyn’s First Book Signing Convention.

So pack your bags, folks!

We’re going to Vegas!

Ok, now that we’ve landed. We need to get to Planet Hollywood. Yeah, that’s right. I’m a big spender.

Now, I’m all about romance, so that’s who I’m looking for. Romance writers. That’s love-loving NY Times Best Sellers (or not) with the creative minds and the perfect wordy way to win my heart. And, I’m on a mission folks, so keep up. I have no time for slackers. I have to be back at work Monday morning, so no wasting time.

Now, I wanted to bring all my books to get them signed, but here’s the thing. A majority of my books are on Kindle. See, as it turns out, I get to have more books with me if I use the electronic kind – and I do love me some books. So, I’ve come up with an idea – you know since I can’t get everyone to sign my Kindle because it’s black and most of the ink probably won’t show up and that’ll greatly depress me. I’m going to do book cards. You know, like baseball cards, but with pictures of book covers and author’s faces.

I know…pretty creative, right? Well, I try.

Stop now. You’re embarrassing me.

So, I’ve got all my cards, here…let’s see
Melissa Foster, Lauren Layne, Lisa Kleypas, Jennifer Ryan, Samantha Chase, Sarah MacLean, Linda Howard, Susan Mallery…okay, you get where I’m going with this.

So, let’s make sure we have everything.

Book cards? Check
Thin-tipped Sharpie? Check
Full cell battery for photo ops (and there will be plenty)? Check
Granola Bar? Check
Water bottle? Check

Ok, we’re ready. Let’s do this!

Intermission? Already? Okay, I guess I could use some lunch.

Now that our bellies are full, it’s time for the quiz portion of the evening (the first evening anyway).

The first game is Name That Author, where we get the name of a book and have guess who the author is.
Next, we move on to Name that Book where we get a summary of a book and have to name it.
And finally, Name That Character where we get a quote from the book and have to guess the character that said it.

And the prizes….
For runner up…

Books!

And for first place?

Drumroll please…

A Kindle…full of books!

Where do I get this stuff, right?

Now to cap off our evening, we’re going to do whatever we want to do without feeling an ounce of guilt. And why is that?

Say it with me people…

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!

(unless Gwyn decides to write a story about it 😉 )
