swSynopsis:

Having a mad crush on her boss’s son, Matt Lacroux–an intriguing mix of proper gentleman and flirtatious bad boy–is probably not the smartest idea for single mother Mira Savage. Especially when the company, and her job, is already on shaky ground. But as a Princeton professor, Matt’s life is hours away from Mira’s home on Cape Cod, keeping him safely in the fantasy-only zone. And as a single mother to six-year-old Hagen, with a floundering company to save, fantasies are all she has time for.

With hopes of becoming dean off the table, and too many months of longing for a woman who lived too far away to pursue, Matt’s publishing contract couldn’t have come at a better time. He heads home to Cape Cod on a brief sabbatical, intent on starting his book, and finally getting his arms around sweet, seductive Mira.

A surprise encounter leads to white-hot passions and midnight confessions. The more time Matt and Mira spend together, the deeper their relationship grows, and the love and attention Matt showers on Hagen is more than she has ever dreamed of. But Matt’s sabbatical is only temporary, and Mira’s not saving his father’s company so she can leave it behind. Will their whispers of love be enough for one of them to change their life forever?

Seaside Summers is a series of stand-alone romances that may also be enjoyed as part of the larger Love in Bloom series.

REVIEW:

Matt and Mira have been secretly (sorta) craving each other for a year. The distance keeps them from disclosing what they really feel. When he winds up in the Cape for 3 months, he knows it’ll be difficult to hide his feelings. Single-mother Mira is crazy about him, but she has her adorable son, Hagen, to think about. Already rejected by his birth father, she doesn’t want him getting anymore attached Matt than he already is – they’ve spent time together periodically.

The feelings become too much for either of them to handle. And, although Matt realizes Mira and Hagen are his main reason for choosing to take his sabbatical in the Cape (and his family a close second), instead of Nantucket where he owns another home, he also had plans to one day become a Dean at Princeton. He’s not sure what his life will be like without teaching, and Mira has made a life for her and Hagen working for Matt’s father. She has plans to help keep his store open, and all of her friends are there. She doesn’t want to disrupt her son’s life, but she also wants to be with Matt.

The chemistry between these two is off the charts. In Foster’s usual fashion, she has painted a vivid picture with witty repartee and charming characters. Matt is a swoon-worthy alpha male with a sweet, gentle, protective side, and the way he and Mira balance their time alone and with Hagen warmed my heart and had me all into the sweet little family they created. Hagen is some kind of adorable, and he leaves his mark in every scene he’s in. Matt and Mira both are strong characters, and I loved their no-nonsense relationship. There wasn’t any drama (a good thing), just two people trying to find their way while being as honest and open as they could be.

I love the Seaside girls. They made me smile, and although I (unfortunately) haven’t read any of the other books in this particular series, I plan to really soon. Foster is one of my favorite authors. I’ve read many of her other books, and I can’t wait to add the rest of this series to the list.

Rating system: Cups of Coffee (the less the better)

0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.

My rating: 0 cups of coffee
