Line Editing

LINE EDITING

After a thorough developmental edit, the next edit is a line edit. Line editing takes a  closer look at the manuscript and analyzes it line by line. We tighten your sentences, with focus on your grammar and word choices and the meaning of each sentence. We improve dialogue and weed out cliché, overused jargon, and repetition. The goal is to  smooth out the flow, spruce up the narrative, and make the dialogue sound natural (give each character their own voice based on the personality you’ve created for them).

A line edit should not be confused with copy editing and proofreading.
