LISA A. OLECH—loves art, pirates and a cranky curmudgeon she affectionately calls the Wizard of O. Currently the author of eight Romance titles in both the contemporary and historical genres, she uses witty dialog with a side order of sexy to bring to life multi-faceted, adventurous, smoldering characters you’ll not soon forget.
A 2018 RITA Award nominee for her book, Within A Captain’s Soul, the final book in her Captains of the Scarlet Night series, Lisa’s won a variety of writing contests and achieved the ranks of Amazon Best Seller with her debut book in 2014.
Living on the shores of On Golden Pond, Lisa shares a drafty, old Victorian house with a wizard and two schizophrenic cats she brought into the house in an attempt to fill her empty nest and keep her from talking to herself in a British accent. As an author, artist, Justice of the Peace, and aspiring beekeeper, Lisa finds true inspiration in the beauty and love that surround her. And, she takes full credit for three homes on her quiet New England street now proudly flying the Jolly Roger from their flagpoles.

KATHRYN HILLS—The rich history and many mysteries of New England are the perfect backdrop for many of Kathryn’s books. Winding roads lined by old stone walls, forgotten cemeteries, grand homes with shadowy pasts…all sparks for her imagination. Whether it’s a quaint seaside town or the vibrant city of Boston, it’s easy for this “hauntingly romantic” author to envision the past mingling with the present. No surprise, some of Kathryn’s favorite stories involve time travel. And ghosts! Sprinkle in some magic, and you’re off on a great adventure.
When not writing, this best-selling author is researching, gardening, or cooking up something special in her chaotic kitchen. She shares her colonial home in the north woods with those she loves most – her wonderful husband and daughter, and three crazy dogs.

The three most important components include: (1) An unusual idea; (2) Like-minded and enthusiastic authors; (3) Organizational skills that rival the experts. Oh, and a fourth… lots and lots of coffee.
The first component was the most fun. Coming up with something that hadn’t been done before took a bit of brainstorming, but we did it. Or, at least, we think we did. While most anthologies revolve around a single common thread, whether it’s a location, a time period, or a specific storyline, we chose to go with all three.
Our common thread is the house, and its resident ghosts. Fairwinds, is a majestic estate that sits on a cliff above the fictitious Skullery Bay. Once the home of the fierce pirate Captain John Jacob Wilder and his beloved bride, Captain Wilder and Lily now guard over Fairwinds from a more ethereal plane.
The time period is where we got a bit off the rails from the norm. We chose to scatter Fairwinds and the ghosts’ story over four centuries, rather than stay in one specific timeframe. We believe this is what gives Ghosts of New England: Skullery Bay its uniqueness and sets it apart from other multi-author anthologies.
The second component, like-minded authors, was the easiest. All three of us bring specific strengths to the project. Lisa A. Olech is our resident pirate expert; Kathryn Hills an expert on ghosts, ghost-hunting, and all things paranormal. Nancy Fraser is the author/publisher with the enthusiasm to keep everyone moving. And, the only one crazy enough to attempt two stories for the anthology.
Finally, the organization itself. From spreadsheets to floor plans to minute editing to make sure everything was in its place from one book to the next. While there were certainly changes to Fairwinds over the centuries, and from one ancestral owner to the next, there were certain things that couldn’t change. Keeping those things straight were what prompted the dozens upon dozens of pots of coffee, tea, and the occasional iced coffee.
However, despite the intensive work involved, we’re confident we’ve crafted the best book possible. And, of course, it doesn’t hurt that Captain Jake enjoyed it so much he gave us the gift of a final epilogue to wrap the anthology up with a nice, neat, bow!
Thank you for sharing out project with your readers.
