As a newly single mother, Carrie Farmer isn’t quite ready to jump back into the dating pool in Ardent Springs—especially since her last marriage was such a disaster. But if anyone could entice her to wade in a bit, it would be her hunky neighbor, Noah Winchester. He’s the perfect man: strong, protective, and smoking hot. But her eyes have deceived her before, and she’s no longer willing to hand over her heart so easily.
After completing several tours in the Middle East, Noah returns to his hometown a very different man. The former soldier’s plan to rest and relax is soon waylaid by the intriguing woman next door and her heart-stealing little girl. Something—or someone—put shadows in Carrie’s lovely eyes, and he’s determined to clear them away. But when hidden demons can no longer be ignored, the couple gets a reminder from an unexpected source that love truly can conquer all.
Review:
Carrie Farmer has paid the price for the scarlet letter, but she refuses to wear it any longer. She knows what she did was wrong, despite her reasons for doing it. She’s been punished beyond justice, and now it’s time to heal.
Noah didn’t have much respect for Carrie when her met her years earlier, but that changes when he gets a taste of the woman she’s become. She’s a loving mother and a great friend with a heart of gold. He has his own demons to battle, and when Carrie and her daugther, Molly, grab a hold of his heart, he never wants them to let go. But first, he must slay his dragons. The only question is, can Carrie be patient with him?
I first met Carrie in Her First and Last. I was so glad to see her and Lorelei and Spencer are all still friends. Their unique friendship touches me, and I’d love to see this kind of acceptance and forgiveness more in real life. Kudos to Osburn for incorporating it in her stories.
I’ve always loved Gran- the geriatric angel of vengeance (I believe that’s right), but Noah’s mom is my new homegirl. She is a hooting, hollerin’ mess and I couldn’t get enough of her charm. I still wanted to scratch Patch’s eyes out despite the fact that he’s dead, and I would be more than happy to give his sister a swift kick in the ass. Lucky for her, she’s just a character.
So I crushed on Noah a bit. He selfless and strong, and encouraging; not to mention loyal. I’m so glad to see Carrie’s life turn out so well, and I can’t wait to read about Dale and Mya. I MUST get their story. I would’ve like a tad bit more at the end, but I still really enjoyed the story, and I highly recommend it.
Rating system: Cups of Coffee (the less the better)
0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.
My rating: 1/2 cup of coffee

While I do drink coffee but I rarely think coffee ever helps me stay awake *LOL*. Thanks for the review 🙂
Truthfully, I don’t even drink coffee. I just like the rating system. 🙂
Thanks for reading! Be sure to check out my discussion page. Start a thread, or respond to one. It’s still in the new stages, but I’m always up for a good literary convo!! 🙂
I don’t drink coffee so the 1/2 cup rating doesn’t matter to me… I have read her books in the past and have never found them lacking so I know i’m gonna love it… its a good thing i don’t base my reading on others opinions lol…… thanks for your opinion and allowing me to leave mine.
Thanks for leaving a comment. You are always welcome to leave your opinion. I, too, believe you’ll love it. It’s a great book! And the 1/2 cup of coffee is a great rating. The ratings are the less the better, so my rating is almost equal to 5 stars. It seems like there’s some confusion on that, but maybe I’m misunderstanding your comment “it’s a good thing I don’t base my reading on others opinions”. However, I think that’s a good practice. I don’t select books based on reviews, but on the blurb and on other books I’ve read by the author (if any).
Happy reading!
