Review:

Carrie Farmer has paid the price for the scarlet letter, but she refuses to wear it any longer. She knows what she did was wrong, despite her reasons for doing it. She’s been punished beyond justice, and now it’s time to heal.

Noah didn’t have much respect for Carrie when her met her years earlier, but that changes when he gets a taste of the woman she’s become. She’s a loving mother and a great friend with a heart of gold. He has his own demons to battle, and when Carrie and her daugther, Molly, grab a hold of his heart, he never wants them to let go. But first, he must slay his dragons. The only question is, can Carrie be patient with him?

I first met Carrie in Her First and Last. I was so glad to see her and Lorelei and Spencer are all still friends. Their unique friendship touches me, and I’d love to see this kind of acceptance and forgiveness more in real life. Kudos to Osburn for incorporating it in her stories.

I’ve always loved Gran- the geriatric angel of vengeance (I believe that’s right), but Noah’s mom is my new homegirl. She is a hooting, hollerin’ mess and I couldn’t get enough of her charm. I still wanted to scratch Patch’s eyes out despite the fact that he’s dead, and I would be more than happy to give his sister a swift kick in the ass. Lucky for her, she’s just a character.

So I crushed on Noah a bit. He selfless and strong, and encouraging; not to mention loyal. I’m so glad to see Carrie’s life turn out so well, and I can’t wait to read about Dale and Mya. I MUST get their story. I would’ve like a tad bit more at the end, but I still really enjoyed the story, and I highly recommend it.

Rating system: Cups of Coffee (the less the better)

0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.

Although born in the Ohio Valley, Terri Osburn found her true home between the covers of her favorite books. Classics like The Wizard of Oz and Little Women filled her childhood landscapes, and the romance genre beckoned during her teen years. In 2007, she put pen to paper to write her own.
