Actress Trish Ryder takes her job seriously and has no time for those who don’t. When she’s awarded a major role in a new movie featuring America’s hottest rock star, Boone Stryker, she’s beyond excited. The six-two, tattooed hunk of burning desire is known for his dedication to his craft—but when he ditches their first meeting, she begins to wonder if he’s just another rocker with a great PR team.
Sex, booze, women, and music pretty much sum up Boone Stryker’s private world. He’s coasted through life playing by his own rules with plenty of people willing to cover his tracks, and he’s not likely to change—until he meets a woman who refuses to give him the time of day, much less anything more.
Sparks fly from the first moment Trish and Boone meet—Tensions run hot and desire runs hotter when they’re trapped together on a remote location with no place to hide. Will sparks ignite, or will a hurricane douse the flames?
The youngest of six -with five brothers – Trish knows how to hold her own. She’s blunt, but sweet and she takes her job seriously. She’s an actress, but anytime she’s in the spotlight it’s all good. She’s kept a squeaky clean reputation and she’s not about to let that change just because a bad boy was cast as the other lead in her next movie, which is a career-changing Oscar buzz.
Where Trish has worked hard to keep her reputation clean, Boone has put in effort to dirty his. He’s not who everyone else thinks he is, but in an effort to keep his family out of the press, his agent and PR team concocts stories about him and leaks fakes photos so no one really knows where he is and what he’s up to. His real life is private, and that’s the way he likes it regardless of all the gossip.
Well Boone’s past comes back with vengenance, demanding attention. He tries to forget the hurt. The pain is almost unbearable, so much so that it’s threatening his part in the movie. However, the world has been promised Boone as the rock-star lead, and unless he delivers the movie is a no-go. Trish is not about to let him ruin her chance, so she steps up and offers to help get his acting on point. Ordered to be siamise twins, the two are sent to a remote location to get into character.
Boone had no intention of staying the entire 10 days as ordered by the director, but the more he and Trish worked together, the more her soft side is revealed. When Trish keeps digging to try and find out why the pivotal scene is so hard for him, he winds up sharing more than he intended. Unable to ignore the secrets and fears they’ve discovered about each other, their practice turns to real conversations, which lead to steamy nights.
I was eager to read this story after I read Claimed by Love (Duke and Gabriella) and how happy I was to revisit them. I crushed on Boone and I so wanted Trish to get her man. Boone’s life is nothing like I expected, and I instantly became a part of his family just as I did with the Ryders. The story is nothing like I thought it was going to be (which is a great thing), and I welcomed the calm, not-too-much-drama-but-just-the-right-abount climax, which is a big part of Foster’s writing style. I so love that. Sometimes, I’m all about the drama, but how I do appreciate a story with a minimal amount. The story is intriguing and peaceful, although it has it’s oh-my moments.
Rating system: Cups of Coffee (the less the better)
0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.
My rating: 0 cups of coffee
