His second chance may cost him his sweetest addiction …
The truth about NEVEAH’S cheating fiancée hit hard—but not as hard as her right hook to his jaw. After ridding herself of him she travels back home to Huntsville, Texas to her father and his boxing gym where she grew up. When she finds a beaten man in the woods beside her home, her entire life changes and things get—complicated.
Ex-con RAGE only wants two things—for the man that set him up to release his sister, and for him to burn in Hell where he belongs. After being released from prison, he heads straight to the man that put him there, only to be beaten and tossed in the woods for dead. When he’s found by the most beautiful girl he’s ever met, he knows he’ll have a chance to rescue his sister even though she doesn’t realize she needs saving.
Neveah and her father, nurse Rage back to heath, offer him a job at their gym and quickly find out that he’s amazing in the ring. Without them knowing who he is, he knows he’s been given a second chance to live his life. The only condition is that he has to stay away from Neveah, which is a promise he soon realizes is hard to keep. The feisty southern beauty normally gets what she wants, and Rage wants to give her everything.
With the truth lurking in the shadows, Rage must decide if his sweetest addiction is worth giving up his second chance.
Review:
Rage was in heaven, and the Angel smiled upon him – and so did I!
Despite his past, and perhaps because of his future plans – to save his sister- I loved Rage. His cockiness was offset by a touch of chivalry, and his strength and dedication were Swoon-worthy (pun intended). He is brazen, large, and in charge, and could be the poster boy for alpha male.
With a soft, feminine inside protected by a tough, hard-as-nails coating, Nevaeh can hold her own, except when it comes to her attraction to Rage. No matter how much he irritates her (so she says), she can’t deny the strong pull they have to each other, and soon realizes, he’s just what she needs, and more importantly, wants. Kar created strong characters who draw the reader in. I loved reading about them and watching their relationship unfold. I wanted them together, and my heart ached when they were temporarily apart. I could feel their pain, and I was with them the whole way.
I enjoyed the secondary characters, and they played their parts beyond satisfactorily. I enjoyed the banter between Rage and Dante, as well as Chase and Nevaeh. I can’t say who I liked the most – Chase or Dante (despite his profession), and I will be reading more of the series to learn their stories. I can tell Chase is next, and how ready I am to read about him and Hannah :).
With a mind-grabbing premise, strong characters, and lively climax, this time-taker is worth a purchase.
Rating system: Cups of coffee – the less the better
0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.
