Excerpt
While William was busy unloading the carriage with Duncan, Ian turned to watch the dark-
haired beauty stride across the keep’s yard. He appreciated the sway of her rounded hips and the
determination in her step.
She was a feisty one. The flare of her nostrils and roiling fury in her green eyes had told him
as much.
The rest of her face was equally intriguing. High cheekbones, a feminine nose, and brows like
the feathers of a raven winged in flight.
Rogan Cameron had blossomed into a beauty, despite the smudge of flour on her nose.
Did she actually think he did not recognize her? Yes, it had been nearly ten years since he’d
seen her, and she had grown. But she still held the mark of a Cameron and her father’s unusual eyes,
so pale and green, it was hard to describe their brilliance. He saw the flash of temper in them when
he dismissed her. Obviously the fiery temperament of her youth followed her into womanhood.
Noticing uncomfortable warmth, he rubbed his hand. A flash of worry filled his mind. She’d
been a meddlesome lass when she was young, but now, a breathtaking beauty that he’d do well to
keep in mind was William’s betrothed.
But dear God, when he’d seen her walking toward him, it took all of his strength not to rush
to her, brush the flour from her nose, and drink in her loveliness. Her beauty had stolen his breath
away. The only way to stop the urge was to pretend he didn’t know her, pretend she didn’t affect
him.
Shaking his head to clear his mind of the lass’ bewitching image, Ian turned his attention back
to his favored cousin.
The one Rogan Cameron was to wed.
