A bodyguard, a bounty hunter, a private investigator, no one can handle the heat like the men of BOSS, Inc.
Megan O’Brien is at her wit’s end. Her three-year-old son has been kidnapped. No police, says the ransom demand. Fearing for her son’s life, Meg has no choice but to turn to her former bodyguard, Dirk Reynolds.
Dirk’s never forgiven Meg for the way she left him after their brief affair. But with bounty hunter Luke Brodie on his side, Dirk knows he’s got to help Meg rescue her son.
The few clues they’ve gathered send them spiraling into a murky world of big banking and international crime. Meg may be way out of her depths, but she’s seeing a side of Dirk she never suspected—one no woman could possibly resist.
Review:
Dirk is my new book boyfriend. I was swooning!!!!
He’s a supersexy, macho, alpha-male, and I couldn’t get enough of him. He has his on special brand of charm, and he backs down to no one. His confidence is nowhere near arrogant, and his protectiveness makes him even more delicious.
Meg’s a good person. I felt bad that she’d ended things with Dirk – mostly because she was trying to please her father. What little girl (even when we grow up) doesn’t want her daddy’s approval? She also didn’t think he’d fit into a cozy lifestyle with her and her son. Not because she thought negative of him, but because she didn’t want to drag him from his adventurous life.
Well, not to my surprise, he can make anything work. He loves her, and she’s never pretended not to love him, she just let him believe such out of the misguided belief that she was doing him a favor.
I love little Charlie, Meg’s son. He’s all three-year-old all the time. He loved the “wiper” (Viper- Dirk’s car) and the way they bonded over “male” things was so cute. Charlie pulled Dirk in without even trying, and Dirk genuinely cared for him.
So the mystery, suspense, and action all had me going. I figured it out, and then I wasn’t sure, and then I knew, but I still wanted to see what would happen. How’d they get that cretin (and even that’s too good of a name for the no-good dirtbag behind the kidnapping). I don’t want to ruin anything so I’m going to keep this review short and simple.
I highly recommend this book, and I’m so looking forward to reading more BOSS.
Sit back and get ready for a wild ride. Kudos to Martin.
Rating system: Cups of Coffee (the less the better)
0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.
My rating: 1 cup of coffee
