Engaging, sexy, fun..
Quinn Knowles loves her animals. She has a loving family, great friends, and a dream of opening a rescue shelter. Her life is pretty much set…except for that pesky little sex problem. It’s not that she can’t get any. Oh she’s had plenty of offers. The problem is the delivery…her delivery, or failure, thereof.
Broken and bruised inside and out, photojournalist Ethan Saunders needs a place to escape the terror he experienced in Afghanistan. That’s why he chose Silver Creek. He loved the place as a child, and since it’s owned and run by close family friends, he thinks it’s the perfect escape. He has fond memories of the place, but one thing he didn’t remember is Quinn being so beautiful. But then again, she was four the last time he saw her.
Ethan is struggling to deal with the aftermath of the destruction he witnessed in Afghanistan. He finds solace in working on the ranch, but soon Quinn gives him more peace that he ever thought possible. Although the feelings are mutual, she feels she must help him deal with his past in order for them to have a future together.
Quinn and Ethan’s relationship unfolds flawlessly. They found comfort in each other, and I rooted for them the whole way. Ethan had a broken spirit, and I admired how he fought to get better. Quinn was patient, kind, and humorous. She took the time to get to know him, and although she had empathy for him, she didn’t make him feel pitied. She put his needs above her own, and she was just overall a refreshing character. Ethan tugged at my heart. He had the alpha male thing going on, but had just the right amount of softness. I was with them the entire way.
I was as charmed by the rescue animals as much as I was by the lovers. I wanted to pet the one-eyed cat and teach the bird some words. And I don’t know when it happened, but I want a goat. I read somewhere that they’re good listeners. I adored the secondary characters, as well. They added to the story without demanding attention.
The writing is excellent, and Moore has a keen sense of detail. There’s the right amount of heat, the pace is steady, and the flow bump free.
Grab a copy (as well as the other books in the series). You’ll be glad you did!
Rating system: Cups of coffee – the less the better
0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.
