Some Kind of Sexy and a Whole Lotta Fun!
Pilar Lopez will finally be rid of her duty to her handsome, hotter-than-hell boss, Benedict Merrill. For five years she’s been his secretary, and although she’s grateful for the job and the money she’s been able to save thanks to her boss’s generosity, it’s time for her to make it on her own. To do her own thing. To stand on her own to feet. To find what truly makes her happy. Not that being around her sexy boss doesn’t do her heart – and eyes, and tongue (if she ever gets to use it on him) some good.
Benedict has always wanted Pilar, but there was a professional line he didn’t feel right crossing. But now that she’s given her resignation, there’s nothing stopping the hunky ranch owner from propositioning her. Soon the question is not how far she’s willing to go, but for how long will the journey be. After all, she’s leaving in 3 months, right?
Pilar is not the typical model-type heroine. Although she’s no size 10, she’s the perfect size for Benedict, and Turner did a note-worthy job in establishing the characters. Readers are given enough to connect to the characters, without being burdened with too much info. Pilar is going through the rat-race with her troubled younger brother, and Benedict has troubles of his own with his younger sibling, although on a greater magnitude. The development in the relationship is nicely paced, by no means being rushed or convenient.
The dialogue is a notch above satisfying, and the descriptions more than sufficient. I expected more from the climax, however, I was not disappointed. The ending was a nice set up for a sequel, whose premise is nicely intertwined in the story.
Rating system: Cups of coffee – the less the better
0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.
My rating: 1 cup of coffee
