Forget chocolate and flowers. This homegrown honey is all the sweetness he craves.

Small-town life is nothing but a waiting room for eighteen-year-old honor student Corazón Gomez. Work and school leave little time for love, but with a full-ride Ivy League scholarship and a one-way ticket out of the boondocks, who needs it?

The answer appears on Valentine’s Day when her old cowboy crush ambles into the ice cream parlor where she works, inviting her to go on a late-night ride in his truck. For the first time she wavers between staying on the straight and narrow, and going off-road with the handsome heartbreaker.

After four years working on ranches all over the country, Caleb MacKinnon is back on the family farm helping out his mom and brothers while his father fights cancer. The one bright spot: smart, funny, and wickedly sexy Cora.

From the start, they both know this blazing-hot love affair can’t last. But when autumn comes and Cora has to leave for the East Coast, Caleb must find a solution to keep himself—and his heart—from falling apart.

Review:

This is definitely not something to share with your grandma – and how fun is that?!

I’m famililar with the McKinnon’s having read Cowboy Resurrection. While this novel’s sex scenes are probably illegal somewhere (like the other books), it doesn’t offer the relationship development. While all of the novels are brief, there was some sort of connection made between the characters outside of the bedroom, but I failed to see that in this one. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I got to read Caleb’s story; but I do feel like something was missing, especially since Cora was a virgin. It seemed too easy, and no real explanation of why she chose that moment- under those circumstances- to finally bid farewell to her virginity. Also, she acted nothing like a virgin, but someone more experienced – at least in some regards.

I still followed their story, and rooted for them. I was happy to see no one had to sacrifice too much (other than dealing with the distance) for their relationship to work. Cora was focused and determined to get out of the small town, and she kept her head on straight – unlike her clothes ;).

Although he wished she’d stayed closer, Caleb was all for her following her dream. He wasn’t selfish, and made no demands or ultimatums. He tooks what she offered, and figured out a way to join their lives, as well as go after his dream.

This is an erotica, not a fully developed romance; therefore, if you’re in the mood for some kinky minus the heart, this is for you!

Rating system: Cups of Coffee (the less the better)

0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.

My rating: 2 cups of coffee
*This novel is actually too short to get tired before finishing it. The rating is more because of the total lack of relationship development. The writing is good.
