Review:
Although neither is aware of the other’s interest, Amanda and Nick have been longing after each other for three years. Nick Bad never mixes business with pleasure, so he steers clear of his attractive paralegal. Amanda is tired of always doing the right thing. Understanding she can never have the one she wants, she decides to bring out her wild side with a stranger. She wants to feel sexy, like a vixen and, for once, do something exciting and forbidden.
Nick had had a rough week and just wanted to relax. His choice of technique? Sex. And who better with than a stranger who want be able to make demands on him because she’ll have no idea who he really is. After more than a kiss, but less than all-out sex, Nick discovers that his mystery woman -whom he met at a masquerade bar crawl – is none other than the one he’s been lusting over. He stops in the middle of the action, leaving her baffled.
This cute-meet was some kind of sexy, and was the perfect opening to the story. I latched on to these two and anticipated their actions. The characters are well-developed, and the pace fluctuated between fast and steady in a perfect combination.
At times, I wanted Amanda to back off and let him do the chasing, but at the same time, I understood her determination. She wanted him, and she went after him. I had to admire her for that. Mick was suffering inside, and she broke through his walls, not only with her determination, but with her understanding. I enjoyed the secondary characters. They blended into the story without overshadowing, but leaving enough of an impression to want to follow up with them later.
This is a sensual, yet inspiring love story, and I do recommend it.
Rating system: Cups of Coffee (the less the better)
0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.
