Book Review: Company Ink by Kat Colburn

Blurb

Dani Wallace reads to escape. She reads to escape from a job she hates and a life that no longer feels like her own. With her sharp wit, foul-mouth, and honest opinions, she doesn’t fit in at SOAR Technologies.

Dan Kelly reads to distract himself. The new smoking hot vice president at SOAR is tired of the paperwork and bored with the countless women he takes to bed. But mostly he reads to distract himself from his secret.

When they’re forced to work together, both of their lives will change. They’ll clash. Sparks will fly. And their lives will begin to feel like a romantic comedy.

He stands too close… she forgets how to type.
She challenges him… he imagines the things her smart mouth could do to him.
They become friends… and yet they both want him to bend her over a desk.

Their lives may feel like a romance novel but when company policies come into play and secrets are revealed, can there be a happy ending for the girl who no longer believes in them?

Review:

Danielle “Dani” Wallace isn’t living her dream. She’a salesperson for a struggling company, and not just any company; it’s SOAR, the company her cheating ex-fiance sold their software to. Not only has she lost all her hard work, she didn’t even get her share of the profits.

Dan Kelly leads quite an interesting life. It gets even more interesting when he becomes a VP at SOAR, and ultimately, Dani’s boss’s boss’s boss, or something like that. He’s as attracted to her spunk and dirty mouth as he is her physical good looks, and things get a lot more interesting for them both when they have to work closely on closing a major deal.

This is Colburn’s debut, and I must say, she nailed it! Great plot, witty dialogue, charming characters, outstanding character and relationship development, and to top it all off, a hint of mystery. Dani’s is strong, honesty, trustworthy, hard-working and close to her family. Although Dan is keeping secrets, he’s also loaded with great characteristics as well. I love the banter between the two, and the chemistry and sexual tension are strong enough to take out a whole city. I love how Colburn took her time developing their relationship, but all the while giving the readers hefty doses of flirtation. I’ve added Dan to my harem of book boyfriends, and I’d love to invite Dani to girls’ night out.

Put the dog out, feed the cat, and turn off the TV. This is a one-sitting read!

There’s no doubt that I’ve added Colburn to my list of authors to watch out for! Kudos to her!

Rating system: Cups of Coffee (the less the better)

0: You won’t need any coffee to stay up for this one. It’s intriguing enough all on its own.
1: You’ll stay up late, but not all night. Brew one cup.
2: You’ll read as long as you’re not tired. If you are, two cups should do the trick.
3: I hope you got plenty of rest; you’ll need it, or at least 3 cups.
4: If the cable goes out, read the book. It’s better than nothing, I guess. Oh, don’t forget your brew!
5: Find anything else to do- it doesn’t matter what it is. Don’t waste your coffee. Too much caffeine is bad for you.

My rating: 0 cups of coffee
